Discreetly Mine took a big step on the Triple Crown trail when he won the Feb. 20 Risen Star Stakes (gr. II) at Fair Grounds in his first start as far as 11Ú16 miles. The son of Mineshaft set the pace and won by 11Ú2 lengths for the E. Paul Robsham Stables.

Mineshaft was a graded stakes winner at Fair Grounds during his 2003 Horse of the Year season. Champion older male that year as well, Mineshaft won the New Orleans Handicap (gr. II). A race honoring Mineshaft was held on the same card as the Risen Star.

Discreetly Mine was twice graded stakes-placed in New York last year. He finished second in the Champagne (gr. I) and Futurity (gr. II) Stakes. On the 2009 Experimental Free Handicap for males, he was weighted at 116 pounds, 10 pounds below the co-highweights, champion Lookin At Lucky and Vale of York.

Discreetly Mine, bred in Kentucky by the late E. Paul Robsham, is the third stakes winner out of Pretty Discreet. By Private Account, Pretty Discreet won the 1995 Alabama Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga for Robsham, who died in 2004.

Pretty DiscreetÕs other stakes winners are grade I winner and millionaire Discreet Cat, plus Pretty Wild, who placed in two grade I stakes.

Pretty DiscreetÕs 8-year-old daughter, Discreetly Awesome, has developed into a graded stakes producer for RobshamÕs widow, Joyce. Homebred Awesome Maria, by MariaÕs Mon, won the 2009 Matron Stakes (gr. II) and ran second in the Frizette Stakes (gr. I). She was weighted at 116 pounds on the Experimental for fillies.
