Big Drama certainly put on quite a show when he held off West Side Bernie by one length to take the Dec. 5 Boyd GamingÕs Delta Jackpot Stakes (gr. III) at Delta Downs. It was the 2-year-old Montbrook coltÕs first attempt at graded stakes company.

Trained by David Fawkes, Big Drama finished third in his first start July 12 but has not lost since. He came into the Delta Jackpot riding a four-race win streak that included victories in all three legs of the Florida Stallion Stakes series. He became the sixth juvenile to sweep the races in the 27-year history of the series, which includes the Dr. Fager, Affirmed, and In Reality Stakes.

Big Drama races as a homebred for Harold L. Queen, who bred him in Florida out of the Notebook mare Riveting Drama. Other stakes winners bred by Queen include Big DramaÕs half-sister DramaÕs Way as well as Across the Creek, Tri Uimet, Glencreek, Rubius, and Real Napkin, who was a multiple grade I winner in Puerto Rico.

Queen bought Riveting Drama for $36,000 at the 1996 Ocala BreedersÕ Sales Co.Õs March 2-year-olds in training sale from Westwind Farm, agent. Although Riveting Drama never raced, she has more than made up for it as a broodmare. The bay mare has six foals of racing age, and all of them are winners.

In addition to Big Drama and DramaÕs Way, Riveting Drama is the dam of stakes-placed Coffee Can, who ran third in the Oct. 21 Autumn Leaves Stakes. Another of her foals, Maltese Massive, has earned $504,329 while racing in Japan. Between them, 4-year-old Coffee Can and Big Drama have earned $964,310 this year while racing as homebreds for Queen.

Riveting Drama was barren to Burning Roma for 2007 but delivered a colt by that stallion earlier this year. The 14-year-old mare was entered but withdrawn from the OBS mixed sale in October. She is back in foal to Burning Roma.

Montbrook is the sire of 41 stakes winners including 2008 added-money winners Jardin (gr. III), Oilgonewile, Shadowbdancing, and Run Right Thru. The 18-year-old son of Buckaroo stands at Ocala Stud Farm near Ocala, Fla. His 2009 fee is $10,000.ÑA.H.D.
