Trained by Randy Morse for owner Michael Langford, Jonesboro wore down pacesetter Shadowbdancing in the stretch to win the 11Ú8-mile Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap (gr. II) June 27 by 13Ú4 lengths. Last yearÕs winner, Wayzata Bay, finished last.

This year also is the first year Jonesboro has won two graded stakes. He captured the Texas Mile Stakes (gr. III) at Lone Star Park and just missed winning another when he was beaten a head in the May 25 Lone Star Park Handicap (gr. III).

Langford bought Jonesboro for $27,000 at the 2003 Keeneland September yearling sale from Three Chimneys Farm and named him for his hometown of Jonesboro, Ark. Morse has trained Jonesboro from the start.

Langford has raced additional stakes winners Fan the Flame, Short Stay, TroyÕs Play, and Iron Post. Fan the Flame was a graded winner. The last two-named were campaigned in partnership.

Jonesboro was bred in Kentucky by Richard Santulli and George PrussinÕs Jayeff B Stables and produced from Eclipse Award winner MomÕs Command. Champion 3-year-old filly of 1985 for breeder/owner Peter Fuller, MomÕs Command won that yearÕs New York Filly Triple Crown.

MomÕs Command was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in August 2007. She had been euthanized in February 2007. A week later Jonesboro won the Essex Handicap (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park.

Jayeff B, which has raced champions Banshee Breeze and Safely Kept, also is represented as breeder by additional 2009 stakes winners Kiss the Kid and Peace Chant.

Sefapiano has sired 21 stakes winners, including additional 2009 added-money winners Late Encounter and Rolling Sea. Sefapiano stands for $2,500 at Landlock Equine Center near Coushatta, La.ÑD.S.
