Ivan Dalos' homebred Gamble's Ghost, the tough-luck second-place finisher last time out in the Woodbine Oaks June 12, will take on males for the first time in her career as the only filly in the field for the $1 million Queen's Plate July 3.
The Nov. 29 Valedictory Stakes (Can-III) for older horses at 1 3/4 miles at Woodbine, features eight runners including Melmich and the retiring champion Pender Harbour.
The grade II Arkansas Derby runs this Saturday at Oaklawn. SMARTY JONES will win and up his record to six for six. He will win by multiple lengths. His time for the 1 1/8 mile race will be under 1:49, and he will quiet all doubts as to his status as a serious Derby contender.
