Vazirabad turned in a career-defining performance Oct. 25 at Longchamp, taking charge late to defeat older runners, including seven-time group I winner Cirrus des Aigles, in the Prix Royal-Oak (Fr-I, French St. Leger).
Trainer Freddy Head and jockey Maxime Guyon teamed for a group I double May 24 at Longchamp, winning the Prix d'Ispahan with Solow and the Pour Moi Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary with Queen's Jewel.
Several newcomers were on the year's third edition of the Longines World Best Racehorse Rankings released May 14, including Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner American Pharoah and runner-up Firing Line.
Cirrus des Aigles set the pace and repelled a bid from Al Kazeem to land the Prix Ganay (Fr-I) for the third time May 3 at Longchamp.
