    Hammers Terror won the inaugural running of the $161,250 Mystic Lake Derby at Canterbury Park July 28 in front-running fashion, surviving a lengthy inquiry into the final stages of the one-mile turf event.

    Kuehne Racing's Won Awesome Dude, shipping in from Delaware Park for trainer Dalton nedrick, came four-wide into the stretch and collared R Clear Victory inside the sixteenth-pole to win by a length in the $150,000 Claiming Crown Jewel Aug. 2 at Canterbury Park, the feature event on Thoroughbred racing's biggest day for "blue collar" horses.

    Hoist Her Flag, a member of the Canterbury Park Hall of Fame, was euthanized July 30 at Dan and Cindy Mjolsness' Barrington Hills Farm near Barrington, Ill., because of deteriorating effects of melanoma.
