Trainer Larry Jones, who won his first race at Ellis Park in his native Kentucky, bagged his 1,000th win at Turfway Park in Kentucky April 2.
Larry Jones hopes to find an easy debut spot in the 1 1/16-mile Doubledogdare for grade I winner I'm a Chatterbox, who was rested this winter at Fair Grounds. Her first big target is the June 11 Ogden Phipps (gr. I).
Turfway Park's winter/spring Thoroughbred race meet opens Jan. 1, with eight stakes highlighting the 46-day schedule. The meet runs through April 3 and includes the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes (gr. III).

Team Valor International's Crop Report, third in his United States debut in February, found the Polytrack at Turfway Park to his liking with a last-to-first victory in the $75,000 Team Valor Rushaway Stakes March 23.
Team Valor is sponsoring the $75,000 Rushaway Stakes at Turfway March 23, and as fate would have it, it will also use the race as a last-ditch effort to get highly-regarded Crop Report to a Kentucky Derby prep.
A sponsorship from Team Valor International will allow Turfway Park to restore the Rushaway Stakes to its Sprial Stakes (gr. III) undercard.
