This year's edition of the $400,000 Super Derby (gr. II) at Louisiana Downs Sept. 6 drew a competitive filed of 11, headed by the one-two finishers of the Ohio Derby and the first three finishers of the Prelude Stakes.
On the morning of Aug. 28, Keeneland Race Course opened its new state-of-the-art dirt main track to training for the first time since the artificial Polytrack surface was replaced.
ThistleDown Racino announced Aug. 27 it will increase purses another 5%, starting with a special Labor Day race card Sept. 1.
Forty-seven 3-year-olds have been nominated for the $750,000 West Virginia Derby presented by Xpressbet (gr. II), to be run Aug. 2 at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack & Resort.
