American Pharoah's dominating victory in the William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes (gr. I) paced Monmouth Park in New Jersey to a record-breaking day.
American Pharoah looked every bit like his Triple Crown-winning self Aug. 2, winning the $1.75 million William Hill Haskell Invitational (gr. I) with ease at Monmouth Park.
Jim Dandy (gr. II) winner Texas Red emerged from his victory over Frosted in exceptional condition and is on course for the grade I Travers Stakes Aug. 29, according to Julie Clark, assistant trainer to Keith Desormeaux.
Assistant trainer Jimmy Barnes said American Pharoah is "on the sharper side" for the Haskell, his first race since his smooth-striding 5 1/2-length Belmont Stakes (gr. I) triumph June 6 at Belmont Park.
Those who questioned the class level of Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner Texas Red had to eat their words Aug. 1, as the son of Afleet Alex turned back Frosted in the $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II).
The New York Racing Association will raise the total purse for the Travers Stakes (gr. I) to $1.6 million, contingent upon Triple Crown winner American Pharoah starting Aug. 29 at Saratoga Race Course.

Monmouth Park officials said July 30 that they reached out to other tracks to try to create a post-Triple Crown three-race series that would have carried a bonus.
