    Countdown to the Cup: Cavalcade of Stars

    It was a chaotic Monday morning on the Belmont work tab, with 21 Breeders' Cup horses having their final tune-ups for the World Thoroughbred Championships. And over at Aqueduct, Rick Dutrow worked his two Breeders' Cup horses, Saint Liam and Silver Train.

    With the rains that inundated the Northeast over the previous week long gone, the sunny skies at Belmont Park Monday made for one of the busiest workout days in a long time as a slew of contenders for the Oct. 29 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships got in some much-needed exercise.

    She had not won a race in four starts, going back to Oct. 2, 2004. But Saturday afternoon, Fox Ridge Farm's 6-year-old Riskaverse woke up at Belmont Park at odds of 35-1 to win the $750,000 Flower Bowl Invitational (gr. IT) for fillies and mares at 10 furlongs on the inner turf course.
