Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson are underwriting the $75,000 Saratoga 150 promotion that offers five fans the opportunity of betting $15,000 to win on one horse in a key stakes race.
Fort Larned breezed five furlongs in 1:03.81 over the main track at Saratoga on July 20, while Mucho Macho Man went in 1:01.61. The two continue to prepare for the Aug. 3 Whitney Invitational, won by Fort Larned in 2012.
After Wise Dan and Successful Dan turned in separate breezes July 20 at Saratoga Race Course, trainer Charles LoPresti confirmed both remained on course for respective starts in the Fourstardave and Whitney.
Trainer Pat Byrne said the Whitney Invitational (gr. I) and the Monmouth Cup (gr. II) are potential races for the 4-year-old colt, who will work July 19 at Churchill Downs before a decision is made.
