Chicago Six to Defend Title in NJC Handicap

Eight horses passed the entry box Tuesday for Saturday's $200,000 National Jockey Club Handicap (gr. III) for 4-year-olds and up a 1 1/8 miles at Sportsman's Park. Defending champion Chicago Six looks to regain his stature as the best among the locals while Ubiquity is the most prominent of the invaders.

Rize Gets Easy Move for Donn

Trainer Norman Pointer had his stakes-winning gelding Rize work an easy three furlongs in :39 4/5 breezing Thursday morning. Rize is slated to start in Saturday's $500,000 Donn Handicap (gr. 1) at 1 1/8 miles at Gulfstream Park and was the lone Donn starter among the 14 entrants to work at Gulfstream on Thursday.

Keats is Possible Donn Starter

Trainer Niall O'Callaghan is on the fence about sending Keats, winner of last year's Lexington Stakes (gr. II), to the Donn Handicap (gr. I) on Feb. 9 or the Whirlaway Stakes on Feb. 10.

Red Bullet Heads Donn Worktab

Frank Stronach's classic-winning Red Bullet worked toward his anticipated start in next month's Donn Handicap (gr. I) Wednesday morning, getting five furlongs in 1:03, breezing. In other news, Mongoose, who defeated Monarchos last weekend, may get a start in the Donn; and Beatrice Oxenberg's Best of the Rest, prepares for Gulfstream Park's signature race for older horses.

Forest Secrets, with Craig Perret aboard, put away pacesetter Miss Linda at the top of the stretch and charged home for a 1 ΒΌ-length upset victory over Printemps in Thursday's featured $273,500 grade III Falls City for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up at Churchill Downs.

Include to Carry High Weight in Clark

Pimlico Special winner Include will be the starting highweight for Friday's 127th running of the $400,000-added Clark Handicap. Meanwhile, two more Churchill Downs-based horses have joined the list of prospective starters for the Clark. Mary and Gary West's Ubiquity, trained by Bill Mott, and Jim and Pat Bohanon's Trion Georgia will contest the race.
