Martha Gerry, who raced champion Forego, has helped the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation establish a fund in his name to help feed the more than 600 horses currently being cared for by the program.
The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders' Association has selected WinStar Farm's Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt to receive the organization's Industry Service Award.
Terence Collier was unanimously named president of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation by the organization's board of directors. Collier, the director of marketing and sales announcer for Fasig-Tipton, succeeds John Stuart.

Bessemer Trust Company in conjunction with its sponsorship of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, will donate 30 spots of national television time to three equine-related charities. The spots represent portion of Bessemer's recently announced sponsorship of Thoroughbred racing's richest day.
The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF), the nation's largest organization providing homes for retired and injured racehorses, has received a $5 million endowment gift from the estate of horseman Paul Mellon. And according to TRF president John Stuart, that amount represents just the beginning of a major funding drive.
