Bridlewood Farm near Ocala, Fla., has set fees for its 2016 stallion roster, which is led by successful freshman sire Big Drama who will see his stud fee increased from $10,000 in 2015 to $15,000 (stands and nurses) in 2016.
Hill 'n' Dale Farms has released its stallion roster and fees for 2016, but it hasn't yet announced the fee for its newly acquired stallion Curlin. His fee will be announced at a future date.
Malibu Moon and Into Mischief top the list of stallions fee-wise for 2016 at B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farms in Kentucky.
Old Fashioned's 2015 fee will rise to $12,500 based on graded stakes success. The son of Unbridled's Song is the third=leading second-crop sire as of Nov. 6.
Calumet Farm has listed stud fees for three new stallions scheduled to spend the 2013 breeding season at the historic Thoroughbred operation near Lexington.
Wildcat Heir, who ranks atop Florida's leading sires' list, will stand in 2013 for $8,000, down from his 2012 fee of $10,000.
Three Chimneys' stallion fees will remain the same or decrease in 2008, the farm announced Oct. 12. Also, the farm will contractually limit the stallion books to 110 mares, as has been its informal custom for several years.
An increase in stallion nomination fees, beginning with the 2006 breeding season, would ultimately result in a substantial purse increase for the 2008 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, said Pam Blatz-Murff, executive vice president of Breeders' Cup Operations and Racing and Nominations Committee chair.
