Prohibitive choice Mani Bhavan, yet to be headed at any call in her three starts, repelled a bid from Jardin mid-stretch en route to victory in the $250,000 Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) for 2-year-old fillies at Saratoga Race Course Aug. 31.
For a filly that romped in both of her starts, including a seven-length laugher in the Adirondack Stakes (gr. II), Mani Bhavan hasn't gotten much respect from the bettors. That's going to change, though, in the $250,000 Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Aug. 31.

Two historic stakes for 2-year-olds, the Saratoga Special (gr. II) and the Adirondack (gr. II), both run for the first time in 1901, have been dropped from the schedule for the 2004 season at Saratoga Race Course.
Shug McGaughey has trained more than a handful of outstanding fillies, but he has yet to win the Spinaway Stakes (gr. I). He will try to change that with the Phipps homebred Daydreaming, a full sibling to grade II winner Accelerator.

Schuylerville winner Freedom's Daughter will pass the $150,000 Adirondack Stakes (gr. II) on August 12 and will instead make her next start in the Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) on August 30, trainer Todd Pletcher said Thursday.
