Standing in the winner's circle following the win by Little Mike in the $90,000 Flying Pidgeon Stakes at Gulfstream Park, trainer Carlo Vaccarezza admitted he was relieved by the solid return of his multiple grade I winner.
Multiple grade I winner won't run in May 3 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic, it was revealed April 29, due to owner/trainer Carlo Vaccarezza's conflict with the KHRC and Churchill over out-of-competition testing.

Little Mike, a three-time graded stakes winner on the Gulfstream Park turf earlier this year, returned to his favorite course after 8 1/2 months on the sidelines to win an allowance/optional claiming race by a nose.
Speedster Little Mike played the bully once again on the Gulfstream Park turf, tallying in the $100,000 Emirates Airlines Appleton Stakes April 3 for his third grade III win of the meet.
For the second time during the meet, Little Mike went gate to wire to win a graded stakes on the Gulfstream Park turf, turning back a solid field in the $150,000 Canadian turf Stakes (gr. IIIT) Feb. 27.
The market continued to lag behind last year's pace on the third day of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. August yearling sale. The gross revenue for the second of three open sessions fell 18.5%, and the average price dropped 30.4%. Meanwhile, the median price declined 26.7%.

One of the more widely used methods of comparing sales results for stallions whose progeny have been offered at a yearling sale is to look at the average prices. Many number-crunchers, however, believe the median price provides a more accurate picture of how well the stallion fared.
Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. realized increases in average and median prices during the open sale portion of its annual August yearling sale that finished Aug. 24 and recorded a final gross total nearly the same as last year.

Spanish Steps, a full brother to Unbridled's Song (Unbridled--Trolley Song, by Caro) was represented by his first foal Jan. 2 when Ribot's Flair delivered a bay colt in Florida.
Spanish Steps, a 3-year-old full brother to major sire Unbridled's Song, will enter stud at Eddie Martin's Martin Stable South near Reddick, Fla.
