ST Publishing announced Monday the formation of The Times, a new publication that will focus on the equestrian sports of steeplechase racing and eventing. The move combines ST's two publications Steeplechase and Eventing Times, and will take effect at the start of the 2006 publishing season in March.

Cuvee cruised to an easy 7 1/2-length win over a sloppy going in Wednesday's $150,000 Saratoga Special Stakes (gr. III) at Saratoga. The Steve Asmussen trainee covered the 6 1/2-furlong distance in 1:15.4. Pomeroy was second, followed by Limehouse 2 3/4 lengths back in third.

Jump Start is Something in 'Special'

Overbrook Farm's homebred Jump Start, the 8-5 favorite in the Saratoga Special (gr. II), ran down a tiring Heavyweight Champ in the final 100 yards to win the $150,000 race by three-quarters of a length. It was 5 1/2-lengths back to third-place finisher Booklet.

American Century Breezes Toward Special

Peachtree Stable's American Century breezed five furlongs for trainer Todd Pletcher Sunday morning, completing the distance in 1:02 2/5 over a muddy track at Saratoga. The 2-year-old, who won a Sartoga maiden race by 7 1/4 lengths, will run next in the $150,000 Saratoga Special (gr. II) on Wednesday at Saratoga.
