The 2016 Ohio Thoroughbred Race Fund will be worth $5.79 million, up 4.2% from last year under a proposal approved by the Ohio State Racing Commission Jan. 26.
Daniel J. Guttman of Bexley, Ohio, has been appointed by Gov. John Kasich to the Ohio Thoroughbred Race Fund advisory committee. Guttman, 43, will serve a three-year term.
The Ohio Thoroughbred Racing Fund, now fully supported by revenue from racetrack video lottery terminals, will almost double to more than $5 million in 2015.
Ohio's three Thoroughbred racetracks have applied for a combined 293 racing days for 2015. There would be no overlap between ThistleDown Racino and Mahoning Valley Race Course, which are located not that far apart.
