    Miesque, Top Racehorse and Broodmare, Dies

    Miesque, the first two-time winner of a Breeders' Cup race and the dam of top sire Kingmambo, was euthanized Jan. 20 at the Oak Tree Division of Lane's End Farm in Central Kentucky due to the infirmities of age.

    Irish group winner Mingun was represented by his first winner when his initial starter, his juvenile son Coo Cachoo, won April 2 at Santa Anita.

    The first reported foals sired by Mingun, the group III-winning son of A.P. Indy and Miesque, arrived on Jan. 26, according to William S. Farish's Lane's End Farm. The first foals of multiple grade I winner Rock Hard Ten and 2003 Canadian Horse of the Year and Triple Crown winner Wando were also reported.
