On a day when the U.S. stock market plunged 360 points, the Keeneland November breeding stock sale generated strong enough figures during its third session to keep the auction's cumulative gross up 13.8% and the average price up 9.9% from a year ago.

Johannesburg Colt Tops Keeneland's Sixth Session

A Johannesburg colt that brought $525,000 became the top seller during Sunday's session of the Keeneland September yearling auction in Lexington. Purchased by John Brocklebank, the bay colt was consigned by Dave Parrish Jr., agent, under the name Indian Creek.

David Parrish Receives Silver Star

After 60 years of waiting David Parrish, whose family owns and operates the Clay Ward Agency and Indian Creek Farm, near Paris, Ky., received a Silver Star from the United States government for his distinguished service during World War II. U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) presented the award May 26 during a special ceremony on the Bourbon County courthouse steps.
