The Keeneland November breeding stock sale got off on the right foot Monday, with record prices paid for a broodmare and for a weanling colt and numbers that exceeded the expectations of buyers, sellers, and sales company officials.
Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) winner Spain, the highest-earning distaff runner in North American history, will be among the horses consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clay's Three Chimneys Sales to Keeneland's November breeding stock auction.

The Thoroughbred Corp.'s Atlantic Ocean will make her next start in the Mar. 8 Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II), trainer Bob Baffert said on Thursday. Composure, Man Among Men, Ministers Wild Cat, and Ozzie Cat have joined the list of leading Kentucky Derby contenders compiled by Steve Haskin, senior correspondent for The Blood-Horse magazine.
Composure outfought Elloluv to the wire to win Sunday's exciting renewal of the $200,000 Las Virgenes Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita. Under jockey Jerry Bailey, Composure completed the one-mile main track event in 1:36.13, a neck-length ahead of her rival.
Composure will seek to avenge her loss to Elloluv in December's Hollywood Starlet in Sunday's $200,000 Las Virgenes (gr. I) at Santa Anita.
