A 7.3% decline in pari-mutuel revenue contributed to an overall drop in net income in 2005 for Canterbury Park Holding Corp., which owns Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn.
Canterbury Park in Minnesota will open May 14 with a 10% increase in purses. The daily average will be $138,000, the highest since the track reopened in 1995.
Canterbury Park Holding Co. reported a decrease in net income for the first three months of 2003 compared with the same period in 2002, but an increase in revenue for the three-month period.
Canterbury Park will kick off its 63-day Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse meet May 16. Highlight of the spring/summer season is the $550,000 Claiming Crown, a five-race series scheduled for July 19.
Monday's vote is the first time a bill of this kind has passed out of committee in Minnesota.

Canterbury Park announced record revenue and net income for 2001. A full year of revenue from its Card Club allowed the Minnesota racetrack to increase revenue by nearly 22% and raise net income by 116.5%.
Canterbury Park reported increased revenue and decreased net income for the third quarter ending Sept. 20. Revenue for the Minnesota racetrack was up 4.3% to $12.1 million, but net income for the third quarter fell 21% to $378,103, or 10 cents per share.
Canterbury Park's card room has substantially increased operating revenue, net income, and earnings for the Minnesota track's third quarter ending Sept. 30.
