Arqana officials have created a new yearling sale for 2011 that will be held Nov. 15. It will follow the stores and horses in training portions of the November mixed sale that are set for Nov. 14.
The clearance rate improved at the Arqana February mixed sale at Saint-Cloud in France, rising to 68% this year from 58.3% in 2010, and the number sold increased to 166 from 127.
A More Than Ready colt brought 58,000 euros ($77,319 in U.S. funds) to top Arqana's December yearling sale, which suffered a downturn of 19.6% in gross revenue from a year ago.
Arqana's Deauville breeding stock sale ended its four-day run Dec. 7 in France with increases from 2009 of 23.5% in gross revenue to â‚¬16,314,000 ($21,743,000 in U.S. funds) and 10.6% in average price to â‚¬28,722 ($38,347).
The third and penultimate day of the Deauville Breeding Stock Sale in France on Dec. 6 registered slight increases over the same session last year.
The average price continues to track about 20% ahead of last year at the Arqana Breeding Stock sale at Deauville.

The Arqana October yearling sale closed out its three-day run at Deauville in France Oct. 21 with increases from 2008 of 4.9% in gross revenue and 9.5% in average price. The clearance rate of 71.2% was the same as a year ago.
The average price rose 5.6% from 2008 and the median price increased 12.5% on the second day of the Arqana October yearling sale at Deauville in France Oct. 20. But fewer horses were sold, which contributed to a 6.7% reduction in the gross revenue.
The market didn't lose much ground from a year ago during the opening session of the Arqana October yearling sale at Deauville in France Oct. 19. Compared to 2008, the gross revenue fell only 1.5% and the average price declined 5.9%.
Arqana's Deauville August yearling sale finished its four-day run with a 3.4% increase in its average price and a 7.1% upswing in its median price from 2008. The gross revenue fell 1.5% while the clearance rate declined from 76.8% last year to 74.7%.

A Dubawi colt, which is a member of his sire's first crop, set a sale record when he brought 280,000 euros (approximately $376,538) May 9 during the upbeat Arqana breeze-up auction at Saint-Cloud racecourse in France. Paul Nataf, acting on behalf of his longtime client GÃƒÂ©rard Laboureau, purchased the colt from Willie Browne's Mocklershill operation.

The market was upbeat at Arqana's autumn sale of horses in training at Saint-Cloud in France Nov. 17. The average price for the one-day auction (down from two in 2007) of 20,688 euros was almost the same as last year's 20,959-euro average. The 93 horses sold grossed 1,924,000 euros, which was down 6.3% from last year's total of 2,054,000 euros for 98 horses.
