    C C's Pal Seeks to Regain Winning Ways

    C C's Pal, who has won or placed in 22 of 30 starts for owner Eric Fein and trainer Rick Dutrow, tops the eight-horse field of older fillies and mares entered in the Aug. 3 Honorable Miss Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga.

  • Frankel to face three in Sussex

    Frankel heads to Glorious Goodwood on Wednesday for the Group 1, £316,500 Sussex Stakes. The Sir Henry Cecil-trained four-year-old sauntered to a facile five-length victory over Canford Cliffs in last year's renewal of the prestigious mile contest and will be aiming to stretch his unbeaten run to 12 races in the 2012 renewal.

  • Shackleford confirmed for Vanderbilt

    Trainer Dale Romans confirmed Monday morning that multiple Grade 1 winner Shackleford will run in the Grade 1, $400,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on Sunday at Saratoga.

  • Divine Fortune seeks three-peat in Smithwick Memorial

    Thursday's Grade 2, $100,000 <a target="_blank" href="http://www.brisnet.com/edgeped/smithwick12">A.P. Smithwick Memorial Steeplechase</a> at Saratoga has a 2011 look about it as the top three finishers from last year's renewal will do battle again in the 2 1/16-mile prep for the Grade 1 New York Turf Writers Cup, which is scheduled for August 23.

  • Lennox, Gordon highlight Glorious Goodwood opener

    The five-day Glorious Goodwood meeting gets underway Tuesday. The feature race of the opening day is the seven-furlong Group 2, £140,000 Lennox Stakes which has attracted seven runners, headed by Libranno, successful on his last two starts, classic-placed Foxtrot Romeo and Chachamaidee from Sir Henry Cecil's Newmarket stable.

    Researchers are in the midst of collecting data for a study designed to shed additional light on acute laminitis (an inflammation of the sensitive laminae that connect the horse&#39;s hoof to the coffin bone) in horses, and they&#39;re looking for help from owners of laminitic horses to be included in the study.
