  • Jerry Bailey will be one of the hosts for "Dining with the Dynasties."

    'Dynasties' Event Planned at Arlington

    Hall of Fame jockeys Jerry Bailey, Pat Day and Earlie Fires will host "Dining with the Dynasties," a special lunch for seven other participants at Arlington Park on Aug. 8, the day before the Arlington Million (gr. IT). The luncheon, in the track's Million Room, is being auctioned on eBay to benefit the Illinois Race Track Chaplaincy of America division and the Disabled Jockeys Fund.

  • Miss Macy Sue will try to capture the 2008 Honorable Miss after finishing 4th as the favorite in last year's running.

    Legislation that would eliminate the automatic 25% federal withholding on pari-mutuel winnings of $5,000 or more on wagers of at least 300-1 was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives July 29.

    For the 16th consecutive year, Cot Campbell of Dogwood Stable presented the Dominion Award to one of racing's unsung heroes -- this time to Vincent "Vinnie" Garibaldi -- at a luncheon July 30 at the Reading Room in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

    The Jockey Club's Thoroughbred Safety Committee, which in June issued its initial recommendations calling for the elimination of anabolic steroids in training and racing, a ban on toe grabs, and a series of whip-related reforms, will provide an update on its activities and announce additional recommendations Aug. 17 at The Jockey Club Round Table in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
