    Georgie Boy Romps in Cal Graduation Stakes

    Georgie Boy, winless in two previous races, broke his maiden in style Wednesday at Del Mar with a decisive triumph under jockey Mike Smith in the featured $140,050 Graduation Stakes for California-bred 2-year-olds.

  • Red Birkin (2) defeated Rutherienne (1) last time out in the Boiling Springs, but Red Birkin was DQ'd and placed 3rd.  Their rematch comes in the Lake George.

    Christophe Clement's Rutherienne, winner in her last three starts while displaying a flair for the dramatic, heads a tough field of 11 fillies in the $100,000-added Lake George (gr. IIIT) for 3-year-old fillies on the Mellon Turf Course.

    Subtle Aly Wins Tight One in Schuylerville

    In a dramatic finish with three horses on the wire, Saratoga's opening day feature Wednesday went to Subtle Aly, who just edged a game I Promise and Blitzing in the $111,000 Schuylerville Stakes (gr. III) for 2-year-old fillies.

    Priscilla Clark, president of Tranquility Farm, will receive the Thoroughbred Charities of America Industry Service Award at the TCA Stallion Season and Art Auction at Keeneland Nov. 30.

    Curlin Breezes at Saratoga; Haskell on Tap

    Curlin, the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner, breezed six furlongs Tuesday over Saratoga's fast Oklahoma Training Track in 1:14.27. The lightly-raced son of Smart Strike who has won four of six starts is preparing for the second half of 2007.
