  • Midway Road Returns Thursday at FG

    On Thursday Midway Road is scheduled to make his first start since June. His trainer Neil Howard is also looking ahead to the next starts for Breakaway, Gradepoint, and Shadow Cast.

  • Mandella Sending Pair to Keeneland

    Trainer Richard Mandella is sending both champion Halfbridled and Minister Eric to compete at Keeneland. Halfbridled is pointed toward the April 2 Ashland Stakes (gr. I) and Minister Eric is scheduled to run in the April 10 Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I).

  • Locals Look Strong In Muniz Memorial Handicap

    A full field is expected for Sunday's grade II $500,000 Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Memorial Handicap at Fair Grounds, and the locally based contingent should be well represented with eight possible entrants.

  • Birdstone May Face a Flock in Lane's End

    Marylou Whitney Stables' homebred Birdstone, winner of the grade I Champagne Stakes at Belmont last year, is the talk of Turfway leading up to their signature Kentucky Derby (gr. I) prep, Saturday's Lane's End Stakes (gr. II). However, the diminutive son of Grindstone hasn't exactly scared anyone off from the $500,000 race with as many as 14 others considering the race.

  • Redskin Warrior, working toward the Gotham.

    Redskin Warrior in Sharp Breeze for Gotham; Prado on Eddington

    Paraneck Stable's exciting Redskin Warrior, impressive winner of the Best Turn Stakes, breezed a half in :47 2/5 at Aqueduct for Saturday's one-mile Gotham Stakes (gr. III), which also will attract the up-and-coming star, Eddington, who will be ridden for the first time by Edgar Prado.

  • Magna Makes Pitch for Tracks in Quebec

    Magna Entertainment Corp. announced Tuesday that it has made a non-binding proposal to the government of the Canadian Province of Quebec to invest in Quebec's four Standardbred racetracks, as well as a training center located in St. Basile le Grand.
