  • Breeders of Cup Winners to be Honored

    The National Thoroughbred Racing Association and Breeders' Cup Limited, in conjunction with the Thoroughbred Club of America, will honor the victorious breeders of the 2003 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at the 10th annual Breeders' Cup Ltd./Thoroughbred Club of America dinner on Sunday, Jan. 11, 6:00 p.m., at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.

    Juddmonte Could Add to Eclipse Award Collection; Finalists Listed Here

    The Juddmonte Farms juggernaut of owner/breeder Prince Khalid Abdullah and prominently represented by trainer Bobby Frankel and jockey Jerry Bailey is in position to add to its large collection of Eclipse Awards when the annual black-tie dinner is held Jan. 26 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Fla.

  • Trainer Dave Schmidt Dies

    Canadian trainer Dave Schmidt died Jan. 5 after he was kicked in the back by a horse at a Stevensville, Ontario, farm during a routine afternoon feeding.

  • Rhythm Mares 1-2 in Aukland Cup

    Mares by Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner Rhythm have supplied a 1-2 result for their sire in the Auckland Cup, New Zealand's premier two-mile race.

  • Wagering Declines at Turfway's Holiday Meet

    Turfway Park ended its 2003 holiday meet with a tie for leading trainer that came down to the last race of the last card, total handle that was nearly as close a call, and a leading rider record that was away and gone before the meet even ended.
