    Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone was taken to Arcadia Methodist Hospital complaining of back pain after she fell from her mount, Sublet, at the start of the 5th race at Santa Anita Saturday. She's the latest rider to be injured during a string of mishaps at the Arcadia, Calif. track in recent weeks.

    It looks as though Godolphin's main hope for the Kentucky Derby will be a colt who will have only three career starts. Inamorato, a maiden winner at Hollywood Park last July in his career debut, romped by 6 lengths in Saturday's Al Bastikiya Prestige Stakes at Nad al Sheba.

    The Maryland Jockey Club has unveiled a $420 million plan for tearing down and rebuilding its tracks and training facilities if the General Assembly adopts Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.'s proposal for slot machines at racetracks.
