Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said the two horses he saddled in the Preakness - Proud Citizen, who finished third, and Table Limit, who crossed the wire 11th- would likely run in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) on June 8.
Trainer Ken McPeek said Harlan's Holiday, seventh as the favorite in the Kentucky Derby and fourth in the Preakness, will not run in the June 8 Belmont Stakes. Prominent Central Kentucky stallion Summer Squall, who has always experienced some fertility problems, has gotten a very low percentage of mares in foal this season; however there are no plans to remove him from stallion service.
When the new Del Mar season opens July 24, fans on both the front and backsides will notice some new improvements. The Del Mar season runs through Sept. 11, and racing is conducted every day but Tuesday throughout the summer stand.
The "NTRA Summer Racing Tour," presented by Long John Silver's, will air on CBS in June and July. Featuring races in four Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships divisions (Classic, Distaff, Turf and Mile), the three one-hour shows will air on June 15, June 29 and July 6 from 5-6:00 p.m. (ET).
