    Golden Apples, making her first start outside her native Ireland, stormed down the stretch to earn her first stakes win in Saturday's $300,000 Del Mar Oaks (gr. IT). Sent off at 21-1, Golden Apples returned $44, $12.80, and $8 in helping to create a $180,094 pick six carryover into Sunday's guaranteed $1-million pick six.

  • Grade I Winner Victory Ride Suffers Fracture

    G. Watts Humphrey Jr.'s Victory Ride was vanned off the Saratoga track Saturday after being pulled up during a morning work. The 3-year-old daughter of Seeking the Gold, who won the July 28 Test Stakes (gr. I) in her most recent start, suffered a condylar fracture of her right front leg.

  • German-Bred Silvano Wins Arlington Million

    German-bred Silvano ran away from the field in the stretch to post a three-length win in Saturday's $1-million Arlington Million (gr. IT) at Arlington Park. Hap finished second, six lengths ahead of Redattore.
