    Graded stakes winners Out of Mind and Freedom Crest are the leading contenders in $100,000 Bel Air Handicap (gr. II), one of three stakes on Hollywood Park's Saturday card. The other races include the $100,000 Royal Heroine Stakes (gr. III) and the $100,000 Landaluce Stakes (gr. III)

    Riboletta on Comeback Trail; Sister Readies for Debut

    Aaron and Marie Jones' Riboletta, last year's champion older female, is on the comeback trail, with the Oct. 27 Breeders' Cup Distaff the ultimate goal for the Eduardo Inda-trained mare. In her first workout since returning to the track, Riboletta breezed three furlongs in :37.4 at Santa Anita.

  • Sir Bear Looking for Repeat in Cornhusker

    Sir Bear will face six competitors Saturday when he tries for back-to-back victories in the $400,000 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Breeders' Cup Handicap.

  • Unbridled Elaine Takes Iowa Oaks

    Unbridled Elaine showed she still belongs among the best 3-year-old fillies in the country on Thursday when she easily won the $150,000 Iowa Oaks at Prairie Meadows by nearly nine lengths. On the same day, 13-1 longshot Elodare took the $75,000 Cyclone Stakes for Iowa-breds.

  • Chavez Travels to Iowa for Cornhusker

    Jorge Chavez, one of the top jockeys in the country and winner of this year's Kentucky Derby aboard Monarchos, will travel to Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa, Saturday to pilot Sir Bear in the $400,000 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Breeders' Cup Handicap.

  • Lost Soldier's First Winner

    Graded stakes winner Lost Soldier was represented by his first winner when Lynne M. Scace's homebred colt Awol Soldier won July 4 at 5 1/2 furlongs at Prairie Meadows.
