Aaron and Marie Jones' Riboletta, last year's champion older female, is on the comeback trail, with the Oct. 27 Breeders' Cup Distaff the ultimate goal for the Eduardo Inda-trained mare. In her first workout since returning to the track, Riboletta breezed three furlongs in :37.4 at Santa Anita.

An barn fire early Friday morning at The Meadows, a Standardbred track near Pittsburgh, Pa., killed 28 horses, according to published reports.
Lone Star Park will feature nine turf races with a total $253,000 on Saturday and Sunday.

The longest-serving member of New York's racing regulatory agency is stepping down, sources in state government say. Joseph Neglia, first appointed to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board in 1984, is retiring from his post.
