  • Filly Record Set at New Zealand Sale

    Tik Tik Trinidad, representing Gooree Stud owner Eduardo Cojuangco, went to $1,450,000 ($645,178 U.S.) to buy the sale topper and establish a new filly yearling record at the New Zealand Premier Sale on Thursday.

  • NTRA Gives Mid-Atlantic Until March 31 to Rejoin

    The NTRA board of directors, during a teleconference meeting Thursday, ruled that a "sufficient number" of racetracks in the Mid-Atlantic region must rejoin the NTRA by March 31, or the region will lose its seat on the board. Elections for other racetrack seats will be held the week of Feb. 5, though tracks that aren't members by that date will not be eligible to vote.

  • Mocha Express to Iowa

    Mocha Express, the second-leading Texas-bred money earner of all time who closed out his career with a win at Prairie Meadows, will begin his stallion career at Dr. and Mrs. Bill McClintock's McClintock Equine Station near Centerville, Iowa.

    New York graded stakes winner Halissee has been moved from Pleasant Valley Farm near Goshen, N.Y., to Dot Bailin's Whisper Hill Farm near Gardiner, N.Y.

  • D'wildcat Seeks to Duplicate Impressive Maiden Score

    Trainer Bob Hess Jr. is hoping Fog City Stable's D'wildcat can approximate his last performance when he meets unbeaten Lasersport Saturday in the $150,000 San Vicente Stakes for 3-year-olds at seven furlongs. D'wildcat smoked a maiden allowance field in his second career start Jan. 6 in a six-furlong time of 1:08.76, only four ticks off the track record. D'wildcat breezed four furlongs in :49.20 Tuesday in his final San Vicente tuneup.
