The top three finishers from last months Prix de Fountainebleau (Fr-III) again filled the top three spots in Sunday's Gainsborough Poule d'Essai des Poulains--French Two Thousand Guineas (Fr-I) at Longchamp, with Landseer winning the French classic by a length over Medecis. Bowman came home third. Michael Tabor and Mrs. John Magnier's Landseer previously finished third in the Prix de Fountainebleau, won by Bowman.

Under Michael Kinane, Landseer completed the mile in 1:36.8 on good to soft turf. Medecis (by Machiavellian) finished three-quarters of a length ahead of Bowman (Irish River), with Shaanmer (Darshaan) fourth of 13 runners.

Landseer is a 3-year-old bay son of Danehill out of the Miswaki mare Sabria. The win marks the third in eight career starts for the Aidan O'Brien trainee who last year won the Coventry Stakes (Eng-III) and finished second – a nose behind subsequent Sagitta Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) winner Rock of Gibraltar – in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes (Eng-I). Rockwell Bloodstock bred the $380,588 yearling purchase.
