Three juveniles each sped an eighth of a mile in :09 4/5 to share honors for the fastest time at the distance during the second under tack preview for Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training at Ocala Training Center April 16.
Bobby Dodd, agent, consigns Hip No. 595, a colt by Street Boss out of the unraced Forestry mare Se Bella, a half sister to grade III stakes winner Sharp Impact. The chestnut colt, a full brother to multiple winner Regal Joanne, was the first horse of the day to work in under :10.
Roman Bloodstock purchased the colt for $75,000 from Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency's consignment at last year's Keeneland September sale.
"He's a nice colt," said Dodd. "He's always been fast. I knew he was a nice horse, but I thought going up there he would work in :10. This is the first time I have ever had a horse work that fast here at OBS.
"And the timing couldn't be better to have a Street Boss with that stallion's nice stakes winner," added the veteran consignor, referring to Arkansas Derby (gr. I) winner Danza. "The colt came back really good. He's playing in his stall right now. Let's just hope he jumps through the rest of the hoops."
Eisaman Equine consigns the other two co-bullet workers at a furlong, both fillies.
Hip No. 455 is a daughter of first-crop sire Afleet Express out of the Mr. Greeley mare Phi Beta Diva, a half sister to stakes winner A Little Gem.
Hip No. 563 is a strapping Harlan's Holiday filly produced from the winning Mr. Greeley mare Ruby Summer, a half sister to stakes winner Vague.
Hip No. 479, a filly by Utopia--Private Escort, by Dance With Ravens, turned in the fastest move at a quarter mile, traveling the distance in :20 4/5. Consigned by de Meric Sales, agent, the filly is a registered New York-bred.
"She is owned by a longtime assistant of mine, Victor Centeno," said Nick de Meric. "He is an absolute mainstay in our operation. He's been with us for 16 years, and he's definitely one of the good guys. He richly deserves a horse like this.
"I was very happy to see her work like that," de Meric added of the bay filly who hails from the family of stakes winners Cynics Beware and Pocket Patch. "She can run."
Five horses worked a quarter mile in :21.
Hip No. 393 is a colt by Warrior's Reward consigned by Top Line Sales, agent; Hip No. 405, named Daddy's Reasons, is a filly by Scat Daddy consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, agent; Blue River also consigns Hip No. 480, a half brother to multiple stakes winner Ribo Bobo by Kantharos ; Hip No. 483 is a colt by Cowtown Cat out of stakes winner Prospect's Delight, by Afternoon Deelites consigned by Thoroughbred Friends and Associates; and Hip No 559 is a filly by Congrats out of graded stakes-placed Royal Card, by Chapel Royal consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, agent.
The third session of the under tack preview on April 17 features Hip No.'s 605-906 (selling April 23) and will be streamed live beginning at 8 a.m. at www.bloodhorse.com/OBS.
