Horses from the complete dispersal of E. Paul Robsham Stables continued to fill the top price slots at the opening session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale where grade II winner Broadway's Alibi sold to Jon Clay's Alpha Delta for $2,150,000 Nov. 5 in Lexington.

The first three seven-figure horses sold at the sale are all from the Robsham dispersal in Broadway's Alibi, Awesome Maria ($4 million), and R Heat Lightning ($1.6 million).

Never worse than second in her six career starts, Broadway's Alibi won the 2012 Comely Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct Racetrack, the Forward Gal Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park, and in the final start of her career finished second to Believe You Can in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) at Churchill Downs.

Consigned by Lane's End, agent, Broadway's Alibi is a 4-year-old daughter of Vindication. She is believed to be pregnant to Smart Strike  .

"Mr. Clay is a commercial breeder, but he also races, so we bought her as a commercial prospect," said Reynolds Bell, who signed the ticket for Alpha Delta. "We love this mare. She could run, she's a lovely physical, and, you know, a great family. Eliza's down there, and she was a champion.

"I wish we hadn't had to pay that much, but that's how it goes when you're buying nice mares. We valued her at about $2 million."

A homebred for Robsham, Broadway's Alibi is out of the stakes-winning Seeking the Gold mare Broadway Gold. She is a half sister to grade I-placed stakes winner R Gypsy Gold.
