A Hi Five became the first winner for his sire Andiron, when he won a maiden special weight event at Manitoba's Assiniboia Downs Sept. 18.
The 2-year-old gelding, piloted by Tyrone Nelson, proved best of the field seven in the second race of the day as he opened up in the early stretch and drew away for a 6 3/4 length romp. Final time for the 5 1/2-furlong dirt test was 1:07.80.
Trainer Ardell Sayler bred the son of Andiron with Janet Sayler in South Dakota out of the Holy Bull mare At First Glance.
Stonerside Stable bred Anidron in Kentucky. Lightly raced by Darley, Andiron was trained by Bobby Frankel and Kiaran P. McLaughlin. A 7-year-old son of A. P. Indy, the bay stallion is out of Zigember, a daughter of Danzig.
Andiron currently stands at Xanthus Farm near Gettysburg, Penn. His fee for the 2013 breeding season was $2,500.
