After standing the 2013 breeding season in Japan, 2007 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Street Sense   will return to the United States to resume stud duties in 2014, Darley America announced Sept. 6.

Charlie Boden, Darley's head of sales in America said, "Street Sense received tremendous support from top breeders during his first five seasons here in America and also last year in Japan. His progeny on the track, as we had hoped, have had a wonderful year, and his nine 2013 stakes winners including grade I winners Aubby K and Sweet Reason, will ensure he will cover a quality book of mares next season."

Street Sense is currently North America's leading third-crop sire by progeny earnings with over $4.3 million, thanks to performers such as the aforementioned Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) winner Sweet Reason and Humana Distaff (gr. I) winner Aubby K. Among third-crop sires, his number of 2013 stakes winners is second only to fellow Darley stallion Discreet Cat  .

Street Sense has quickly positioned himself as the leading son at stud of fellow Darley stallion Street Cry  , who is emerging as an important sire of sires. Street Boss   has sired 2013 Foxwoods King's Bishop (gr. I) victor Capo Bastone, and yet another sonStreet Hero  was recently represented by Del Mar Derby (gr. IIT) winner Gabriel Charles.

"As Street Cry fast approaches hitting the 'century mark' in number of stakes winners, his best son will be welcomed back with open arms by the breeding public and all of us here at Jonabell," Boden said in a press release.

Street Sense's 2014 fee will be set at a later date.

Street Sense, who remains the only horse to ever win both the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and the Kentucky Derby, stood at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley farm in Japan in 2013.
