Jeff Coady, a popular photographer at some of America's top racetracks, died Aug. 26 in Luling, Texas, at age 62.
Along with his brother, Jack Coady Jr., Jeff Coady operated Coady Photography, which was started by their late father, Jack Coady Sr. After beginning his racetrack photography career at Turf Paradise in Arizona and at tracks in western Canada, Coady went on to shoot races at Oaklawn Park and Keeneland, among others. Three of Coady's four sons—Shawn, Kevin, and Kurtis—also work for the company and for the past 10 years Coady worked alongside his wife, Nelda, at various racetracks.
Additional survivors include son Christopher and daughters Genia Zamora and Shanna Swinney.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Luling at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4. In lieu of flowers, his family request that donations be made to the Oaklawn Park Chaplaincy, P.O. Box 20564, Hot Springs, Ark., and/or the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 90, Luling, Texas 78648. Memorials will also be held at Oaklawn Park and in Arizona at a later date.
