The Ohio Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments on whether a public policy group that had filed suit over the 2011 law that authorized video lottery terminals at Ohio racetracks has standing to appeal.

The suit was filed by the Ohio Roundtable, which earlier had its case rejected in two lower courts in the state. The high court will hear arguments on whether the group has the standing to appeal.

The case, which has lingered for more than two years, probably won't be heard until sometime in 2014, officials said, because another case that raises similar questions must be heard first.

Thus far two racetracks in Ohio have opened VLT parlors; the other five tracks in the state are moving forward with construction.
