Awesome Patriot  , a stakes-winning full brother to 2013 Preakness (gr. I) winner Oxbow  , has been retired from racing and will stand the 2014 breeding season at B. Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm in Lexington as a participant of the farm's growing Share The Upside program. His fee will be $3,500 stands and nurses.

"With his pedigree, Awesome Patriot offers breeders a lot of value and upside for $3,500, particularly to those taking advantage of our Share The Upside program," said Ken Wilkins, Spendthrift stallion director.

A $350,000 yearling, Awesome Patriot is by emerging sire of sires Awesome Again  . He is out of the mare Tizamazing, a $1 million yearling herself and a full sister to two-time Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) champion and leading sire Tiznow  . Awesome Patriot's immediate family also includes current leading older horse and grade I winner Paynter  , who is also by Awesome Again and hails from the mare Tizso, a full sister to Awesome Patriot's dam.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Awesome Patriot won his debut as a 2-year-old at Hollywood Park, defeating the likes of grade I winner Coil  . He became graded stakes-placed in the Hollywood Prevue (gr. III) before stretching his speed around two turns to win a one-mile allowance race at Santa Anita in 1:35 flat as a juvenile. At 3, Awesome Patriot won the Alydar Stakes at 1 1/8 miles at Hollywood.

Spendthrift is conducting an open house this coming July 13-15 at the farm from 12-3 p.m. each day, featuring Awesome Patriot and the other Spendthrift stallions. All breeders are invited to come out for inspection. Lunch will be served.
