Grade I winner and classic-placed Bodemeister   was crowned Virginia-bred Horse of the Year and the 2012 champion Virginia-bred 3-year-old colt when annual awards were presented July 6 at Colonial Downs.

Audley Farm, which bred Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Bodemeister, also accepted the award for leading Virginia breeder for the fourth time. Audley's Untouched Talent was honored as champion broodmare.

In addition to Bodemeister, who stands at WinStar Farm near Versailles. Ky., several Virginia-bred awards went to horses that have been retired to stud. Dominus  , new to the 2013 roster at Spendthrift Farm in Lexington, received the award for champion Virginia-bred turf horse, and Redeemed  , standing at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md., received the award for champion Virginia-bred older horse.
