With apprentice rider Jevian Toledo aboard, Kryskaly Horse Racing's New Yawker notched his fourth straight victory June 20 at Delaware Park and in the process lowered the track record for 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track by running the distance in 1:02.59 (VIDEO).

The previous record of 1:02.68 was set in 2006 by Trickle of Gold.

New Yawker, a 7-year-old son of Proud Citizen   conditioned by Julio Cartagena, has a career record of eight wins from 39 starts, for earnings of $249,467. In his previous outing, the Kentucky-bred notched a three quarter-length triumph in a five-furlong turf allowance at Pimlico Race Course June 2.

On Feb. 14, he was claimed for $5,000 by his current connections at Laurel Park. Since then, he has won his four starts by a combined margin of 7 3/4 lengths.

Bred by Michael House, New Yawker is out of the Quiet American mare Bold American. A $90,000 purchase at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale, he was first raced by Agnes Peace and later by Drawing Away Stable and Class Personified Stable before being claimed by Cartagena for Kryskaly Horse Racing.
