This year's telecast of the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) June 8 registered a final national rating of 4.5 and an 11 share, down slightly from 4.8/11 in 2011, NBC Sports Network said June 11.

This year's show attracted about 7 million viewers, down from 7.7 million last year, the network reported. The 2013 figures are higher than those of 2011, when 6.8 million viewed the third leg of the Triple Crown from Belmont Park.

The race portion of the program on NBC ran from 6:15-7 p.m. EDT.

NBC said this year's Belmont Stakes was the third most-watched without having a Triple Crown on the line. The statistics were first kept in 1988.

NBC also said its 2013 average for all three Triple Crown races was up 7% from 2012.
