EQUIX, which uses scientific data in its selection of yearlings and 2-year-olds for clients, has appointed Fletcher Mauk to the position of equine analyst.

A native of Lexington, Fletcher has a degree in philosophy from Transylvania University and has 14 years experience as a trainer, pinhooker, breeder, and advisor through his Small Batch Thoroughbreds.

Mauk will perform structural, cardio, and high-speed digital analysis of Thoroughbred racing prospects and will assist clients with their breeding decisions using OptiMatch, according to a release.

"We are excited at EQUIX to have Fletcher on our team," said Suzanne Smallwood, EQUIX president, in a statement. "His expertise and hands-on experience offers our clients a highly regarded resource to complement our innovative and proven approach to bloodstock analysis."

"EQUIX is a one of a kind bloodstock group that created the 21st century model for discovering Thoroughbred racing and breeding potential," Mauk said in a release. "The upcoming yearling sales will be a great juncture for meeting and servicing EQUIX clientele."
