California Sire Dixie Chatter Gets First Win

California freshman sire Dixie Chatter   was represented by his first winner June 7 when 2-year-old filly Chattering Nikita won a maiden special weight at Canada's Northlands Park in Edmonton, Alberta (VIDEO) .

Chattering Nikita went gate to wire by one length in a time of :40 3/5 for the 3 1/2 furlongs on a fast track.

Trained by Cindy Cummins for owner Carl Perry, Chattering Nikita was fifth in her debut at Turf Paradise April 19 before winning her second start.

Bred in Arizona by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm, Chattering Nikita is out of the stakes-producing Never Tabled mare Mirabilia and was purchased as a yearling by her owner for $7,000 at the 2012 November Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders'  Association sale.

Winner of the 2007 Norfolk Stakes (gr. I), Dixie Chatter ranked among the leading members of his crop as a 2-year-old. The first grade I winner sired by Dixie Union, Dixie Chatter retired with earnings of $464,606. He covered a full book of mares in 2013 at Ballena Vista Farm in Ramona, Calif.
