Marylander Phillip Capuano Dies

Maryland horsemen and longtime Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association director Phillip Capuano died May 10, at the age of 80 according to the MTHA.
Capuano's life was dedicated to Maryland racing. An owner and breeder since 1962, he was an integral founder of the organization while tirelessly advocating for backstretch issues as a longtime chairman of the MTHA's Backstretch Committee at Bowie.
Capuano received the MTHA's award for Outstanding Service to Maryland Horsemen in 1995.
Capuano is survived by his wife, Connie, who also works in the family's horse operations, and two successful trainers on the Maryland circuit: Dale and Gary.
Family and Friends will gather at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Md., May 15, 2013 from 2-6 pm.
Services and interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
