Indubitably Bliss, a 4-year-old son of Dixieland Band, is among the 18 horses entered at the first stage deadline for the Hong Kong Derby (HK-I). A gelding bred in New York by Mr. and Mrs. Gerald A. Nielsen, Indubitably Bliss has two wins and five seconds from nine career starts, with converted earnings of $239,350.Restricted to 4-year-olds, the 1 1/4-mile Hong Kong Derby is scheduled for March 17 at Sha Tin Racecourse. In another development related to the race, the Hong Kong Jockey Club reported no Derby entries from leading HK trainer I. W. Allan prior to the 9:00 a.m. (local time) Jan. 22 deadline for the first entry stage. Allan contacted the HKJC and informed them that he had sent in Derby entries for four horses and for his horses running last weekend at 2:30 p.m. the day preceding the deadline. The HKJC technology department investigated the matter and concluded that the electronic files for Allan's Jan. 26 racing entries were received but his Derby entries did not arrive. The HKJC said Allan's horses could be included in the second entry stage that closes March 5.
