Bidding by phone, Betty Moran's Brushwood Stable went to $900,000 to acquire a son of Bernardini   from the family of champion Princess Rooney at the April 23 second session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training.

Named Prince Bernardini, the colt out of the winning Deputy Minister mare Rooney's Princess was consigned by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds. Rooney's Princess, a daughter of champion Princess Rooney, is the dam of stakes winner Prince Rooney and stakes-placed V.I.P. Princess.

The colt, bred in Kentucky by the Robert Gentry Family Partnership, had been purchased by Hartley/De Renzo for $225,000 from the Gainesway Farm consignment to the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale.
