Prairie Meadows has named Chad Keller, who has been with the Altoona, Iowa, track since 2000, its new racing secretary over Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing.

Keller, a native of Omaha, Neb., initially filled the entry clerk and placing judge positions at Prairie Meadows. He was named clerk of scales in 2001. In 2006, Keller was promoted to assistant Thoroughbred racing secretary. In 2008, Prairie Meadows added the title Quarter Horse racing secretary to his growing responsibilities.

"From day one, we’ve appreciated having a professional with Chad’s ability, who also works well with others and has a fine attention for detail," said Derron Heldt, Prairie Meadows racing director. "The knowledge gained from his many years at Prairie Meadows makes Chad ideal for this position."

Thoroughbred racing returns to Prairie Meadows April 19. The 67-day Thoroughbred format runs through Aug. 10.
